WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - We have Empire Football League action on tap from Waterville as the Watertown Red and Black looked to snap a 3 game losing streak and pick up their first win of the season as they squared off against the Mohawk Valley Nighthawks.
The Red and Black get on the board first in the 1st quarter as T.J. Williams plows his way in from 5 yards out, putting the Red and Black on top 6-0. Late in the 1st, the Red and Black add to their lead. Williams get loose outside and walks in from 5 yards out, increasing the Red and Black lead to 14-0.
Mohawk Valley cut the lead in half in the 2nd quarter. Javon Evans finds an opening and takes it in from 10 yards out, cutting the Red and Black lead to 14-7 at the half.
Late in the 4th, Mohawk Valley was looking to tie it up but the Red and Black defense comes up with the big stop on 4th down. Final score: 14-7 in favor of the Red and Black. Watertown improves to 1-3 on the season.
In Carthage, the Revolution hosted Ithaca in Northeastern Football Alliance play. The Revolution looking to snap a 3 game losing streak and get back to 500.
Late in the 1st, Ithaca gets on the board. Earl Brooks Sr. calls his own number and takes it in from 4 yards out, putting Ithaca on top 6-0.
